Door Teppanyaki, the flagship restaurant of which has been
in Taichung for 20 years, has opened a branch in Tienmu. Diners
sit at a comfy table and watch the French cooking skills of
the chef while eating freshly-prepared fine food. Set meals
are on offer, each one including soup (French onion, butter
and corn, or spinach and clam), handmade bread, salad, vegetables
of the season, fruit, dessert and drinks. Set meals cost between
NT$880 and NT$3780; main dishes include various steaks, royal
goose-liver meat rolls, Japanese style tender chicken, or
maple syrup and mustard prawns of fresh lobster. The cooking
style is mainly French. The various sauces are also the perfect
accompaniment to the main ingredients. There are the fragrant
thick potato sauce that goes perfectly with cod, and the and
lightly sweet, slightly hot maple syrup and mustard sauce
that you dip prawns into, and the aromatic and mellow white
wine sauce that accompanies Ghana fish, perfectly contrasting
with the soft fish meat. -- By Josephine Lin
