The
Westin Taipei's New York Deli has a new name, ¡§Shabu-Shabu
Deli¡¨. The restaurant now serves authentic Japanese shabu-shabu
hot pots, starting at NT$480. The head chef proudly states
that this establishment offers "casual style five-star
cuisine." The main pots include seafood, shellfish seafood,
seafood and meat (port, beef and lamb), chicken pot, and others.
The ingredients are all superior quality. For vegetarians,
there is the healthy white yam veggie pot. All of the shabu
shabu combo meals come with sushi, smoked salmon, beef with
asparagus roll, sashimi and steam mushroom custard. The chef's
crowning achievement is the soup stock made by simmering dried
bonito fish, kelp, fish bones, carrots, radishes, and onions
together over many hours to bring out the flavors of the ingredients
to be added. -- By Josie Wu
