Food Fit For a Fair
Written and translated by Aria Chang

With years of history and know-how behind the brand, Shin Yeh has thrived to become a recognized leader in high-class Taiwanese cuisine. Two years ago, it was selected by Taiwan¡¦s government to showcase the island's food at an international travel fair in Japan.

The ground floor, also part of Shin Yeh, is home to a Mongolian barbecue buffet. When you walk up to the second floor though, you are immediately drawn to the Chinese decor and the traditional round tables neatly laid out in a spacious dining hall. Individual dining rooms, which can be combined to accommodate large groups, are available for those who require privacy.

The menu has been designed with international customers in mind: Clearly-priced items are described in Chinese, English, and Japanese; there are pictures of the most popular items. Dishes are presented according to color and cooking style, enhancing an already delightful dining experience.

The restaurant's ¡§Home Dishes¡¨ such as Fried Pork Liver (NT$230), Fried Small Cuttlefish (NT$260), Fried Eggs with Dried Turnip (NT$140), or Fried Soft Bean Curd (NT$110-140) are not to be missed. Other popular dishes include Stir-Fried Chicken with Cashew Nuts (NT$365), Stir-Fried Beef with Kale (NT$365), and Hot Pot Sets (NT$1650-1950). More extravagant items on the ¡§Deluxe Dishes¡¨ menu, including Abalone Salad (NT$2900), and Stir-Fried Shark's Fin with Eggs (NT$1400-1900), often feature in banquets marking important occasions.
