       Opened in 1867, Kuo Yuan Ye really merits the name "Century Old Shop"! At first, it was nothing more than a very small cake and pastry shop that depended on shoulder poles and bamboo baskets to peddle goods along the streets. Recently, it has been completely refurbished and expanded in the hopes of attracting younger groups of customers. The shop front mixes a bit of the old with the more modern face lift giving the place a baroque feel. Interiors are bright and simply designed in contemporary furnishings, however traditional pastry moulds are displayed for interest. The latest updates also include set meal service of eastern and western foods, vegetarian dishes, and a variety of sweet cakes and pastries.--By Selena Huang
