On July 26, 2001, while on top of Mount Cook in New Zealand, Aka wrote in her journal, ¡§Traveling has helped my personal growth and opened my mind to all of the infinite possibilities¡K.I want to open a small restaurant to share my experiences with those who also have a love of nature and traveling.¡¨ So, when Aka came back to Taiwan, she opened a restaurant with her travel companions. On the walls are pictures from the owners' various travels and the menu features an assortment of exotic dishes, which they learned to prepare while overseas. For example, the Aka Combo (NT$250) is beef seasoned with exotic spices. Other dishes include the Spanish omelette, as well as Greek, French, Hungarian and Mexican options. The reasonably priced food is often accompanied by a chat with one of the friendly owners, which makes it a nice place to come back to again and again.--By Ken Lin
