The BEST Christmas Ever

--By Charles McHale Translated by Jean Huang

Jesus--Prince of Peace, Christian Messiah
Best gifts: Gold, Frakincense and Myrrh
This Year: While buying and receiving gifts is what most of us think of at Christmas, it's nice to remember that Christmas is a celebration of Jesus' birthday (though it may actually have taken place in September). Jesus certainly would want you not to forget those less fortunate this year. Giving to charities is easy and Google has been endowed with special powers to help you find a charity that suits you. Jesus wasn't big on pitting people against each other but, if a heathy spirit of competition is what it takes, he no doubt would want to remind you that Hong Kong's Operation Santa Claus raised HK$12.2 million last year. Give till it hurts, Taipei!

Ma Ying-jeou--Taipei City Mayor
Best Gift this year: Mayor Ma's Christmas wish is for Taipei to continue to be a regional leader and develop into a world-class capital. As there are many excellent city government policies currently in place, he hopes the city will be a model for other cities. Furthermore, he hopes that a century later, Taipei residents will remember him in the way they have memorialized the first Taiwan Governor, Liu Ming-chuan.

Taipei County Magistrate Zhou Xi-Wei

Best Gift: I grew up in a traditional Chinese family. I hadn't been really exposed to Christmas until I studied in the States. Christmas is the time when families get together. Most students went home during the Christmas holiday, and I was lucky enough to be invited to my classmate's home, which leaves me a very warm memory.

This year: My most desired present is that everybody in Taipei county leads a happy and healthy life. I guess this is what every government official hopes for.

Jay Chou--Pop star
Best Gift: A bike ride to see a Christmas tree with someone special.
This year: Wants to spend Christmas eve with that someone special again, alone.

Bill Jia--Music Video Director
Best Gift: A ticket to Japan
This year: Hopes a friend will surprise him.

Yang Xin Ci--Pop star
Best Gift: Jewelery
This year: Wishes her younger sister can come cook at her home this year.
