DJ J6

By Ken Lin Translated by Sheng Chen

James Jan, who founded a pioneering DJ club during his college years at FuJen Catholic University, is now the man behind a famous night club--2nd Floor--and is known in Taiwan and overseas as DJ J6. In recent years, he has devoted himself to dance culture, exchanging local DJs with foreign notables such as Paul van Dyk, Josh Wink, DJ Krush, Ishiya Takkyu and Ishii Ken, and bringing the latest sounds to dancers. The Loop, which consists of James Jan and friends, has planned many events around Taiwan, and aspires to internationalize Taiwan's dance culture.

In the early 1990s, J6 could be seen DJing at Spin, Roxy, B.A.M., Room 18 and Milk (now called Salong). Now he mainly appears at 2nd Floor. Years of experience has strengthened the music flow from Rock to Electro, Tribal to House, manipulating the atmosphere around the dance floor, and heightening the dancers' senses.

J6 usually wines himself up when he's on stage; it relaxes him. And that's when we'll see his unbridled moves ravishing the crowd. James, however, is quite a careful planner in private. Because of his Mass Communications background, the events he plans show great vision in terms of marketing. Along with his buddies, the Sundae party they planned promoted lounge music and lounge bars in Taiwan. On top of that, he internationalized 2nd Floor and is now training new DJs for Taiwan with DJ @llen.

James, DJ J6, has only one goal: To bring great joy with the latest music from around the world, in a club near you.
