Lost
in a Moment
Artist: Lene Marlin
Label: EMI Records
Listening to Lene Marlin sing is a beautiful
experience. She tells stories with her music, and her
stories are all things we have experienced before, told
through her expressive voice and simple but meaningful
lyrics. Different from run-of-the-mill commercial songs,
Marlin's songs are like poetry--subtle, yet filled with
emotions. Listening to them at different moments will
stir up different emotions. Worth mentioning is the
fact that Marlin has done a cover version of Faye Wong's
famous song "I do". Her clean guitar and warm
voice breathes new life into this song, adding an element
of human warmth to this rather spiritual melody. This
album also includes a few familiar songs that have been
covered by Taiwanese singers, such as "Sitting
Down Here", covered by Sandy Lam, a lively song
that reminds you of little elves with wings darting
about the forest. Genie Liu did a cover version of "Unforgivable
Sinner", one of few Marlin songs that expresses
dissatisfaction. These classic Lene Marlin songs add
to the value of her new album. If Lene Marlin is a name
new to you, this album will be all the more valuable.
