Red Flower/ Meng Ting-Wei

Artist: Meng Ting-Wei
Title: Red Flower
Label: EMI Records

By Nelson Huang, translated by Cara Steenstra

"Quiet Life Slow River" is from Meng Ting-Wei's "Red Flower" album. To understand this album, it is necessary to know a little about this artist's background. Meng Ting-Wei became a Buddhist and a vegetarian at a young age and developed a different point of view of the world early on. For various reasons, however, she returned to the hustle and bustle of a commoner's life. This song expresses the feeling that life is like the flowing water of a river, gently and slowly passing through your lifetime and times, not leaving behind a trace. The song is reminiscent of lying on a vast green meadow with a mild breeze softly blowing on your hair, basking in the warmth of the sun in March. The music is ever so moving, so refreshing and so soft, like a newborn baby cuddled in its mother's bosom.
