CD Review:

Ballycotton/A La Cut/Jingo

Ballycotton hails from Austria and consists of five members playing a variety of instruments, such as the fiddle, mandolin, banjo, violin and bass. This band's music is mostly instrumental but contains elements of classical, folk and rock music, and even flamenco. Many of the tracks such as "Calima", "Gnom's Firedance" and the interestingly titled "Hillibillikiller" are fast and lively, guaranteed to make you feel like dancing. However, there are also softer, more subdued and emotionally touching selections, such as "Senor Rossi" and "Monsoon." With such diversity, this CD offers something for everyone. Ballycotton has toured Taiwan several times and is building quite a following. Pick up this CD to find out why.--by Cheryl Robbins
