American
III: Solitary Man--Johnny Cash
|
During the late 90s through the year 2000, a debilitating nerve
disorder put the brakes on Johnny Cash's career, forcing him to
stop touring and performing live. With 'American III: Solitary Man,'
Cash shows that his spirit and abilities are undiminished. It features
classics like Neil Diamond¡¦s 60s title track, ¡¥Solitary
Man,¡¦ and Nick Cave¡¦s, ¡¥The
Mercy Seat,¡¦ along with Cash originals. The overall
sound of 'American III: Solitary Man' is predominantly acoustic
and intimate, with guitar, fiddle, piano, organ and harmonium. Guest
stars Merle Haggard, Sheryl Crow, Tom Petty and Norman Black sound
right at home with the Man in Black. (by Steve Taylor)
