Ron
Korb - 'Celtic Heartland' |
The music on this instrumental CD is reminiscent of Riverdance.
This is no coincidence, however, as the album's composer and main
flutist, Ron Korb, is a former member of that group. The compositions
are mainly Celtic with Middle Eastern textures and rhythms mixed
in. The result is a very unique sound experience; one example is
'Medieval East' which combines diverse instruments such as the saz
from Turkey and the Celtic harp. While most of the album is quite
mellow, some selections such as, 'Night of the Long Shadows' and
'Harvest Jig'are heavy on the fiddle, inspiring you to get up and
dance. The rich variety of instruments conjures up images of exotic
places, making this album a great escape from everyday pressures.
