JETS
TO BRAZIL
'Orange Rhyming Dictionary'
by Steve Taylor |
'Jets to Brazil' is ex-Jawbreaker guitarist/vocalist Blake Schwarzenbach's
new take on life. Rounding out the trio are bassist Jeremy Chatelain
and drummer Chris Daly. 'Jets to Brazil' avoids any immediate similarities
from their former bands but Schwarzenbach's voice is hard to disguise.
'Orange Rhyming Dictionary' embraces aspects of pop/punk without
categorizing itself with its use of catchy melodies and start/stop
dynamics. Songs like 'I Typed For Miles' and 'Lemon Yellow Black'
display a confident understanding of effective breaks and changes
with stories of disappointment, self-loathing and monotony. The
band's dynamic range is impressive for its debut album so find it,
buy it, steal it, copy it but, somehow, stick it in yer ear.
