Marketing Misses: Spiderman in Afghanistan

Attempting to ride the wave of patriotism in the US, marketing
agency Humster & Sprog shipped Spiderman to Afganistan to be
filmed supporting the war on terrorism. After four days of shooting,
Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld put a stop to the project,
saying, "We cannot accept any effort that distracts attention
from all our brave fighting men and women who risk their lives daily."
George Bush, when informed that Spiderman was in fact fictional,
added, "No frictional (sic) character can do what our real
army people can do, namely...you know, fight terrorism." Humster
& Sprog no longer handle marketing for Spiderman.
