Located in a renovated Art Museum Parkway house, this spacious bakery cafe is the first non-Taipei branch for the well-known chain founded by pastry chef/owner Yannick Wu. Taichung customers can now enjoy a variety of popular soft, creamy roll cakes (NT$380-485 18-cm.), plus 20-30 individual French and Japanese-style baked desserts, including all kinds of cakes, from Boston Cream to Caramel Mousse. Full-sized cakes are also sold, in addition to six kinds of quiche (NT$98), cookies, soft ice cream, coffees and teas. Truly unique is a big second-floor DIY kitchen, where customers use a terminal to select a dessert (from cakes and brownies to waffles), pay, and use video instructions (Chinese only) and provided ingredients to prepare and bake it (average time 30+ minutes). These can be taken home or enjoyed at a table or even on the parkway grass outside (Yannick loans out picnic baskets and seating tarps). Such DIY fun is especially popular among parents with kids. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Anna Yang
