Narrow, tranquil XingLin Road is near the Dawn Cake bakery at the HeNan Road intersection, diagonally opposite Mitsukoshi Department Store on Taiwan Boulevard, Sec. 3. As you enter XinLin Road, you'll see the red-and-white canopy of Bonbons (meaning "candy" in French) Cafe, which offers French desserts, coffee, tea and even beer. --By Ruby Wu, translated by Angela Cheng

A. Baker Miss Cheng learned dessert-making via a class at Le Cordon Bleu and provides delicious French creations such as the crispy, savory, macaron-like "Pink Love" (NT$120), served with rose cream and raspberries.

B. The classic Lemon Tart (NT$85) uses Taiwanese lemon sauce, topped with Italian egg cream with syrup as decoration, in a sweet-and-sour combination. Made with French cacao berry, the Cointreau Chocolate (hot, NT$140) is an authentic, richly-fragrant French drink.

C. The delicious Tea with Lemon (NT$110) is multi-layered, with the bottom a mixture of nut butter and chocolate chips, the filling Earl grey mousse, and the topping lemon mousse.
