Manga comics characters have a strong appeal to a broad range of people, regardless of when they were born. SK Restaurant owner Zen Chang had such individuals in mind in February when he opened his leisurely establishment, creating a world that combines food and manga. Whether you are a fan of manga and anime or not, this is certainly a place where visits inspire nostalgic recollections of childhood memories and poignant moments.
SKR provides a variety of food and drinks that are uniquely creative versions of run-of-the-mill fare. For example, the drink names have an animated theme while desserts are named after characters, explains the owner. Because this business also holds "cosplay" promotional activities and has customized table game spaces, it is very popular with younger customers.
In addition, the restaurant's decor integrates elements of a Western-style bar with three styles of seating for individuals, couples and groups. This place is also divided into a first-floor reception area and a second-floor with multiple open dining spaces--a creative design that offers customers an atmosphere of comfort and functionality.
Most meal items here are Western, from pasta and risotto dishes to sub sandwiches, and can be upgraded to set meals with soup, drink and dessert of the day. With a commitment to high-quality ingredients purchased in local traditional markets, the owner carefully prepares a variety of main courses such as Italian-style smoked chicken, Portuguese-style beef, German-style sausages, a seafood combo, and a LOHAS vegetarian dish. Popular dishes specifically recommended by Zen include Classic Portuguese Beef (NT$240) and the Smoked Chicken Sub Sandwich (NT$190), made with a French baguette.
In addition, there are seven special drinks (NT$75) that customers have come to crave, including the King Arthur (blue orange soda water), White Pluto (vanilla pudding sparkling water), Digital Singer (mint cherry ice cream sparkling water) and Fifth Doll (rose tea).
