The Parity Coffee chain has opened yet another big attractive
cafe this time on Chienhsing Road on the former site of Ponderosa
Steak House. Dozens of customers can enjoy seating outdoors, under
umbrella-shaded tables, or inside, where a modern decor using high
ceilings, plenty of glass and other touches creates a cool, comfortable
feeling particularly well-suited for summer afternoons. A wide range
of food or drinks may be ordered, using checklist menus on each
table. The usual variety of coffees (NT$50-NT$80) and milk, green,
black and flower tea concoctions (NT$60-NT$80) are available in
hot or iced versions. Traditional pots of tea can be had for NT$120
and there are also juices and crushed ice drinks. From 11:30 a.m.
to 2 p.m. Monday to Friday, the cafe gives three choices¼)including
fish and pork chop--of NT$125 business lunches which come with soup
and iced tea. For the same or slightly-higher prices are various
types of noodles, hot pot selections and other entrees. Snacks are
all under NT$100 and include Italian-style coffee pudding, sandwiches,
various kinds of toast and Chinese items like hairy beans.
