Original Coffee may be
a small place, with only about 30 seats, but it serves up excellent
Italian Illy coffee, made on a very expensive Italian maker, for
very reasonable prices. Espressos are NT$50, regular coffee is NT$70
and items like regular and flavored cappuccino are NT$120. More
unique are the three types of fruit iced coffees or items like the
hazelnut milk tea or herb tea with passionfruit juice (NT$150).
Original is the brainchild of two partners who have plenty kitchen,
cafe and bar experience working at Hotel National and similar places.
This is clear after one tastes the good home-made cheese cake. There
are plenty of snacks like the NT$35 peanut butter or cheese toast,
NT$130 waffles, or various ice creams. Unusually, this cafe also
provides a full range of cocktails, from the B-52 to Long Island
Iced Tea, either on the menu of made-to-order. Beers like Warsteiner
and Heineken start at NT$100. The best way to find Original Coffee
is to take Ching Cheng Road south and turn left onto Ching Cheng
21st Street at the first traffic light after crossing Kungyi Road.
It's
on
the right before reaching the canal.
