One of the better-quality cafes to open in Taichung recently, Halhali is part of an island chain which roasts its own beans and offers a wide range of good hot and cold coffees and coffee drinks, such as coffee frappes, for no more than NT$90. There are also teas and juices, plus sandwiches and breakfast specials (NT$120-140), available between 8 and 11 a.m. and--on weekdays--available with a buy-two-get-one-free deal. The cafe will deliver drinks and food which are all about NT$20 cheaper when eaten out. On all drinks except juices, it's half-price on refills. The cafe, located opposite Sogo Department Store, is a bright, attractive, well-lit place. Look for a second, much bigger Halhali opening in October not far away on Ying Tsai Road.
