Sun cakes have always been Taichung's local specialty, but baking techniques for these delicacies are constantly evolving. Ruyi Sunny Cake has created its own unique style, with a tourist factory and strong marketing. Its handmade sun cakes also won first place over 500 other bakeries at the 2nd National Bakery Competition. Each visitor is welcomed with freshly-brewed coffee or hot barley tea, and served free sun cakes, lemon cakes, or mung bean pastries. The bright bakery feels like a stylish cafe with comfortable wooden tables and chairs, allowing guests to relax as they select and enjoy their treats. --By Uvia Chang, translated by Anna Yang
