Shoppers looking for a first-rate selection of music, movies, books, electronics, computers and other related items will welcome the first Taichung branch of this French chain store, located in Shinkong Mitsukoshi Department Store. Similar to branches in Taipei, FNAC provides an upscale shopping experience with attractive, well-organized displays labeled in Chinese and English. The music department contains a good selection of CDs in a variety of categories—pop/rock. Chinese, Japanese, hard rock, electronica, classical, and one of the biggest jazz sections in the city. Next door are movies and a very respectable book section, including a plenty of English (and French) selections and categories ranging from Food and Beverage to Fortune Telling/Astrology. Stereo systems, speakers, notebook computers, CD and MD players and digital cameras are among medium-to-high-end electronic, gaming and computer products from companies like Sony, Compaq, IBM, Toshiba, Pioneer and Acer. Other services include ticket sales for concerts and other performances, and photo developing. The store also sponsors regular exhibitions and cultural events.
