A craze
for things Chinese hit its peak after the hit movie, "Couching
Tiger Hidden Dragon". There is no better place to get in on
this craze and enjoy old Chinese culture than Taichung's wonderful
Art Street. Before entering the Red Brick Bridge store, you must
cross a road up the hill and turn left.
Even though two-thirds of the clothing
in the shop have similar designs, each has its own unique Chinese
traditional style. The shop offers seven different brands of clothing,
with prices ranging from NT$1,000 for a shirt to NT$6,000 for a
dress. Some dresses are simple, but provide the feel of a classy
evening gown. The store offers great customer service. In addition,
the owner also custom makes clothes for customers. Various ceramic
pieces may also be found here, with a practical ceramic cup starting
at NT$80. The priciest items in the shop are the ceramic wall decorations
and the ceramic flower pots and vases, which are approximately NT$3,000
to NT$4,000.
The store also offers small leather
goods, from NT$500 leather wallets to shoes for NT$2,000-plus and
other items which are rare among clothing shops. The owner is quite
skillful at making jade and other stone chops for NT$1,400 to NT$4,000.
Even though it will take a 10-day wait, it¡¦s well worth it.
