From July 1 on, what was the Grand Formosa Taichung Hotel will be renamed The Splendor Taichung. A corporate reshuffling leaves the ex-Grand Formosa Taichung and Kaohsiung hotels under the same umbrella, separate from the Taipei and Hualien ones. With a new name and logo, the hotel management plans to continue providing the same standards of comfort, quality and service in rooms and food and beverage outlets, while making some improvements and additions. This includes a new Splendor Garden Cantonese Restaurant on the 15th floor, with the renamed Horaikaku Restaurant moving with its Taiwanese cuisine to the 11th floor. All Western restaurants are also now under the experienced hands of German chef Frank Zimmer, who will be making his own adjustments and improvements.--By Douglas Habecker
