About six months after closing on XiTun Road, this bar and restaurant has reopened near the QingHai-HeNan intersection, much bigger and better in every way, including spacious seating for about 85 on two floors. The impressive walls of beer bottles--about 900 on the first floor and 2,000 on the second--underline the main attraction here. Sachsen's beer-aficionado owners have doubled their beer selection to a mind-blowing 400-plus varieties (NT$180-220 330ml bottles), listed in a 40-page beer menu by category, including golden, dark, amber, Trappist and Abbey ales, fruit beers, and four European draft beers. About 70-80% are Belgian, but there are also craft beers from Japan, Germany, America, the UK, Taiwan, Portugal, France and New Zealand, plus some wines, whiskies and soft drinks. Sachsen's good western dining fare includes 11 12-inch pizzas (NT$240-320), various risotto and pasta entrees, and plenty of fried side dishes perfect for beer, like the Sichuan Pepper Spicy Wings (NT$180). --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Anna Yang
