Party animals shouldn't miss the North Star Lounge Bar, which opens daily at 9 p.m. Entering through the wooden floor entrance, you immediately feel as if you've been transported to another place under the violet-colored northern lights, as vivid interweaving stripes of neon on the walls illuminate the comforting sofa areas like stars sparkling at night, and relaxing lounge music plays from a top-notch sound system.
Here they serve everything from champagne, cocktails, hard liquor and Taiwan Beer (NT$130/bottle) to 25-year-old Johnnie Walker Premier (NT$5,500 per bottle). Lose yourself in the smoky flavors of the richly-blended whisky, filled with the fragrance of fresh wheat and tasting like sophistication itself.
Thai-style sweet, sour and spicy sauces are a central theme for North Star's dishes, including Icefish with Vinegar and Chili Sauce (NT$250). This consists of freshly-fried Antarctica icefish, drizzled with a special-made vinegar and chili sauce for an exotic culinary escape. Si-ji Pig Intestines (NT$200) are tender pig intestines fried with string beans ("si-ji dou" in Chinese). The crunchiness of the beans, combined with the chewy tenderness of the intestines, makes it hard for people to stop eating. All these dishes result from the hard work of dedicated chefs hired by the owner to satisfy hungry customers. Each food and beverage option here is meticulously designed by the owner, who is careful to note the feelings and tastes of customers and create combinations that will allow them to fully relax and let go of their daily stresses.
Every Friday from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. is North Star's DJ Time, which DJs hand-picked by the owner play electronic music, without the typical loud and pounding sounds of many other clubs. The idea is to provide therapeutic, chilled-out rhythms that also create a more lively weekend atmosphere and promote interactions between the patrons. Various activities such as Uniform Nights and other themed evenings are held with special discounts each month to ensure you have something new to look forward to each time you visit.
