You're making a big mistake if you think that PoPin is just a hip-hop music pub. Rather, this place--located in Taichung Central mall--is the first pub to adopt skateboard culture as a theme, complete with a skateboard half-pipe built into the middle of the dance floor. The goal is to create a pure setting to experience American art, music and sports culture. PoPin has teamed up with the Taichung Skateboard Association and has professional instructors on hand coach guests. With professional guidance, even beginners can experience the fun of skateboarding. Po Ho (wild monkey) and Shu Xiao Hai (Dead Little Kid), along with a number of original-music bands, perform at PoPin and local and foreign DJs will surround guests with the hottest punk and rock music. The place also has another special feature, an executive chef from The Splendor Hotel preparing high-quality cuisine. Tickets are NT$300 during the opening period. Average food and drink prices range between NT$200 and NT$350.
