7070 PUBLIC HOUSE
11, JingMing Road
|
--By Douglas Habecker, translated by Jean
Huang
Seven-0 Public House is located in the two-floor
building previously occupied by Chubby's Restaurant &
Bar, on the corner of JingMing and JingCheng roads. The atmosphere
and decor have seen a complete makeover, moving a bit more
upscale. Leather booth-style seating, a redecorated bar and
private seating areas (accomodating groups of up to 50 or
60) on the second floor and mezzanine level all contribute
to this ambiance. Unchanged from before is the pleasant outdoor
garden area, where the tables are perfect for Taichung's warmer
evenings. According to the new management, many of Chubby's
most popular dishes are still on the menu, including appetizers
like Cheese Fries and Grilled Chicken Strips (NT$180) as well
as the big flame-grilled burger (NT$280), Steak Sandwich,
and that Canadian favorite, Perogies (NT$240). One new appetizer
is Fried Soft Crab (NT$280) and there are others like Hot
Wings and Beer Batter Chicken. Salads range from Grilled Chicken
to Smoked Salmon Caesar and there are salads, soups and pita
selections (like Grilled Chicken Breast). 7070's drink menu
features dozens of selections, including single-malt whiskies,
spirits, wines, bottled beers (NT$130-150), liqueurs (NT$150)
and cocktails (NT$160-250). 7070 is planning on organizing
regular events, from regular Friday Salsa Nights (10:30 p.m.)
with salsa and other Latin dancing, to a Hong Kong air ticket
for two giveaway in March. There is also satellite TV and
an upstairs big screens for live sports (by reservation).
