At War, the conflict begins at the entrance.
Staff compete to entice visitors to go to either the Japanese
section or the American area. Passing arrows in the walls
and pikes on the ceiling, guests are led into a huge, 1,000-ping
videogame fantasyland. Pockmarked walls, industrial construction,
blast holes and artwork create a sense of curiosity at what
is around the next corner. The dining areas, flanking the
dance floor, are attractive and stylish. In the Japanese section,
the all-barbecue menu's most popular item is the New Zealand
Tenderloin (NT$180). On the American side, try the Deep Fried
Jalapeno Pepper (NT$220). Both sides feature very experienced
chefs. Bottled beers start at NT$128, and cocktails at NT$120.
In spite of its battlefield appearance, War has invested heavily
in quality. The staff has been trained by hotels in service
and by models in deportment. Other touches include a giant
contraption that allows you to win NT$1 million if you can
pass a wand through the entire pathway. Every night features
live DJs, dancing on the bar and games and shows. But, be
careful, as there are modelling agent talent scouts in the
crowd- possibly looking for you!
