This classy-looking place targets a more upscale, over-25 crowd with a combination of nice ambiance, live music, a good bar and something to eat. The atmosphere is swanky but not overdone, lively but not raucous, with a large oval-shaped bar that patrons enjoy sitting at, plenty of mirrors, framed black-and-white photos, brown leather chairs and some red velvet sofas. There are two private booths (minimum charge about NT$3,000) and a private room for about eight to 10. Customers are welcome to get down on a small dance floor during disco hours after 10:30 p.m. Thursdays to Saturdays. Decent jazz is provided by the Amuse house band nightly from 9:45 to 10:30 p.m. and is followed by live bands like The Earth on Mondays and Tuesdays. Regular showgirl shows and the like are also provided. Drinks include about 20 whiskies, plus brandies, wines, champagnes, liqueurs and cocktails (NT$250-300). Beers range from NT$150 Taiwan Beer to NT$250 for a liter of Miller. Chinese and Western dishes and snacks include pasta dishes (NT$180-200), fried rice dishes (NT$100-120), salads, quesadillas, fried finger foods, and main entrees (NT$180-350), like German Pig's Feet or the Turkish Grill. Amuse is just around the corner from Frog 1.
