Changhua residents traditionally have needed to make the journey up to Taichung to get good Western food. So, Taichung restaurateurs will no doubt be disappointed to learn of Culture Club's opening. Situated just down from the train station and across from the police station, this spot features an upstairs restaurant and downstairs pub area. The restaurant features pleasantly appointed wood booths and framed images of music stars from the past and present. For smokers, there are tables outside. The menu is reasonably-priced, eclectic Western, with an emphasis on English favourites. Popular dishes include the Onion Boerewors (NT$150) and the Highlander Breakfast (NT$120). The downstairs pub boasts a disco light for when the party really gets going, karaoke with broad English, Chinese and Taiwanese options, darts, pool table, sofas, small tables and a small but pleasant bar area. Small bottles of beers are NT$90, large bottles are NT$140 and cocktails are NT$140 and up. Service is friendly and personal, encouraging a laid-back, multi-cultural "be yourself" atmosphere.
