Champagne lovers will not be unfamiliar with
Rico Padre in the Seventh Redevelopment Zone. With its unique
architecture with triangular glass surroundings, it is only
upon entering that you may realize that there is a huge pool
on one side with outdoor seating. On the other side is another
large structure. Altogether, this place seats about 150 people.
The style follows the simple, clean lines of the Northern
European school, which is rather rare in Taichung. The menu
has pages and pages of champagne choices, with over 200 to
choose from. The 1996 Champagne King is NT$980 per glass.
Other alcoholic drinks and non-alcoholic beverages are also
available. Food-wise, the manager says that the menu is altered
once every season, although most dishes are French country-style.
The Iranian Caviar sells for NT$2,500 and the Traditional
Foie Gras is NT$580. Apart from club time, an English style
Afternoon Tea is available between 2 and 5 p.m. French-style
dinners are also available after 5 p.m. Whether you are sitting
indoors or outdoors, Rico Padre's beautiful surroundings,
great champagnes and wines, and tasty food will help ensure
a satisfying experience.
