On Call, a newcomer to the ever-growing pub/lounge scene recently opened its doors to the thirsty public. This establishment is an inviting hang-out for those who want to kick back, listen to occasional live music and guest DJs, or even retire to the VIP room with some friends for a more private evening. If none of this sparks your interest, you can also venture downstairs for a game of pool or some KTV. Drinks include a variety of cocktails (NT$180-250) or, for the thirstier patron, a set price of NT$200 will get you a cold 1,000 cc mug of San Miguel. Owner/bartender Sarah will also bring her lovely smile, free cigarettes and snacks around to your table once you get comfortable. On Call has a cozy, welcome feeling. Patrons can choose to sit on soft lounge chairs, or pull up a stool to the large, attractive open bar. Twice a month, On Call also features local musicians and DJs who will entertain you until the wee hours of the morning. If they are they are not on, there is always the right level of background music--loud enough to hear, but quiet enolugh to have a conversation. With a good mix of things to do, listen and look at, On Call is poised to be a popular hang-out for a wide variety of people. On Call is located on Da Ye Road between Dadun and Wenxin (Wenshin) roads. Look for the blue neon lights outside that mark the spot. --By Mark Paas, Translated by Sunny Lin
