Opening on June 6, Upper Ten brings the lounge scene to The Landis Hotel, using Le Bar's previous, second-floor location. A totally new look is evident, with plenty of dark wook, comfy sofas, funky glass lights and an entire wall of lit glass cases. Side, curtained areas provide some privacy for small groups. Overall, the effect is a classy, subtler lounge look than many of the new entries on the lounge scene. Champagne (NT$1,800/bottle, NT$250/glass), wine (NT$1,200/bottle, NT$250/glass), cocktails (NT$250) and cigars feature prominently, but one special treat is the free cigar handed out to all who come in the door. Members (NT$30,000) get their own glass case with lock and key, as well as their own golf driver and various discounts. Minimum charge is NT$300 per person, but is waived for Landis guests. Note that the entrance is on DungShing (TungHsing) Road, one door to the right of the main hotel entrance. Ask the doorman for directions if you are unable to find it. -- By Donovan Smith
