THE
LONDONER
143, HuaMei West St.
|
Right across from People's Park on GungYi (KungYi) Road, The
Londoner is hard to miss with a wide outdoor terrace, outdoor
pool table and imposing Greek columns. During the afternoon,
it is a sunny lunch spot, with a range of sandwiches on offer
for NT$120. In the evening, the dinner menu is as cosmopolitan
as the city this place is named after, with pasta and pizza
(NT$150-NT$250), Thai curries (NT$200) and chicken and lamb
kebabs on pitas (NT$220). Of course, there are British specialities,
like Chip Butty (NT$120), Fish and Chips (NT$200) and Cottage
Pie (NT$200). In the evening, The Londoner transforms into
a stylish, blue-lit nightlife spot, with a dance floor, stage
for live bands, satellite TV, comfy sofa area and the outdoor
terrace and bar area. Large ceiling fans keep the cigarette
smoke to a minimum and lend to an open, airy feeling. Bottled
beer is NT$120, draft beer NT$120+, cocktails NT$140 and shots
of tequila and sambuca go for NT$100. -- By Donovan Smith
