Sound Garden is anything but a conventional pub. Located
in a vacant lot directly opposite The Pig Pen, it consists of a
converted 40-foot shipping container, wooden deck with chairs and
tables and a circle of old park benches (arranged around a 50-gallon
fire drum when it's cold).
There is no sign to identify the place, only a barbecue stall out
front. Thanks to the unconventional approach of owners Mr.
Wang and Mr. Mo, however, it has become a big hit, particularly
after about 3 a.m., when customers from The Pig and other closing
pubs, pub employees, band members and loyal foreign customers begin
converging on this place and stay until dawn. The owners emphasize
that it¡Y¦Ys a relaxing, chill-out place with a variety of music,
sometimes with a DJ, including trance, techno, rock, jazz and other
types. Customers can bring their own albums for a try and
relax and talk over NT$100 500cc draft beers or whiskey Cokes, and
barbecued snacks. After an official March 31 opening, expect
business six days a week, more food available from 5:30 p.m. on
and additional facilities.
