One of the best wine shops in the city has not only relocated but now offers meals and a bar-like setting to enjoy with a glass or two of red or white. Gala, formerly located on Meitsun Road near Kungyi Road, is now just off of Ching Cheng Road and is larger, with a walk-in cellar and plenty of display space. A total of 3,000 to 4,000 wines are available, in addition to whisky, brandy, rum and other alcoholic beverages. In the back is a bar with several tables, where fairly-cheap western-style dinners can be enjoyed between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m. To get there, take Ching Cheng Road away from Taichung Harbor Rd. After Finga's Italian Restaurant, go through four more traffic lights. After the fourth light (Hsiang Shang Rd.), turn left at the first alley.
