Sisters Lucy and Vicky Peng returned from America to open this chic-looking establishment and offer a scrumptious variety of French-style pastries and desserts. There is also a sizable dining menu that includes soups, salads, sandwiches (like the NT$220 Chicken Focaccia), and various pasta dishes. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Angel Pu
A. Among 25-30 daily pastry/dessert selections at Sparkle are pictured items like the multi-layered, chestnut-flavored Mont Blanc; Rice Pudding (NT$130), made with jasmine rice, orange-flavored mousse and fresh orange slices, topped with a crumble; the custard-filled Vanilla Brioche; the heart-shaped Palmier, with hundreds of dough-butter layers; various in-house chocolates; and all kinds of Macarons (try the Peanut Butter Jelly flavor!).
B. The Classic High Tea Set (NT$480, 1-5 p.m.) features three tiers laden with tasty treats, from scones to macarons, plus a coffee or tea choice.
C. Sparkle's exquisite-looking 60-seat interior features lots of white marble, chandeliers, attractive displays for pastries and other products, and comfortable table and bar seating.
