This large, cool-looking bar and restaurant, located in the recently-renovated MODE Mall (ex-Taichung Central) is the fourth branch of a Taipei chain the focuses on two main things--Belgian beer and pizza. Owner/manager Simon Lee expresses his personal fascination for Belgian beer with a selection that has to be the best in Taiwan--an amazing 130-140 varieties of mostly-Belgian beers and ales (NT$180-220). With such a range, there is no beer menu. Instead, tell the knowledgeable staff what flavor you're looking for--light, strong, sweet, bitter, sour, flowery, wheat, fruity--and they'll choose something for you. The Italian-American food menu is equally large, starting 14 pizza varieties (7 and 12 inch) made in a unique, open-compartment, top-heated stone oven. There are also three calzones (NT$240-260), 18 pastas (NT$170-230), a dozen risottos, all-day brunch selections (set meals and omelets), fries with 11 sauce choices, and various main courses. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Angel Pu
