Diners at Orchid House are treated to classical violin music, elegant orchids, beautiful artworks, tasty cuisine and a relaxing environment. Owner Mr. Cheng created this eatery with his wife and affectionately named it after her name--Li-lan ('lan" meaning "orchid" in Chinese. The Chinese name of the restaurant is 'Lan She'). With him handling the kitchen and her managing everything else, they offer a Western Style Breakfast (NT$79); lunch/dinner sets; vegetarian meals; risotto, baked noodles and rice entrees and sets; five European-style meal set; pizza (NT$80/6-inch); coffee and other beverages; desserts; soups (NT$50); salads (NT$$30); bread (NT$25) and afternoon tea sets (NT$100, 2-5 p.m.). B. The Pasta with Mushroom and Pesto Sauce (NT$140, meal set NT$240) is prepared with fresh pesto made from basil, anchovies and pine nuts, mixed with bell peppers, beans and roasted pine nuts. The mild-flavored pesto is a great combination with the lighter-flavored pasta.
