Located on a narrow alley between WenXin Road and the DaDun Road Carrefour (see Compass map), Thai Do is a pleasant little restaurant serving exceptionally good and authentic Thai cuisine for very reasonable prices. The native Thai chef offers a variety of generous-portioned entrees--prepared either with full "heavy" Thai flavors, normal or reduced spiciness. There are well-known Thai favorites like Green Papaya Salad (NT$100), red, green and yellow curry dishes (NT$180-200), Thai stir-fried noodles and Seafood Tom Yum Soup. Other tasty, harder-to-find specialties include the Deep Fried Thousand-Year Egg (NT$150), Matsaman Curry Fried Pork Chops (NT$220), Thai Stir-Fried Basil Dishes (beef, chicken, vegetables, etc.), Yunnan Spicy Deep-Fried Chicken (NT$150), and Roast Lemon Chicken (NT$180). These can be washed down with big glasses of Thai Milk Tea (NT$40) or a Thai beer (NT$70). --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Uvia Chang
A. Another stand-out entree is the Steamed Sea Bass in Lemon Sauce (NT$320)--an tangy explosion of sweet and slightly-sour tropical flavors.
B. Thai Do also offers NT$130 weekday business lunches, with main course, drink, dessert and soup, plus take-away meals (small lunch orders before 10 a.m., group orders the day before).
C. Owners Mark and Jianyuan personally created the attractive decor for their establishment.
