America's most famous donut store has arrived in Taichung with two branches and more on the way. Dunkin' Donuts--founded in 1950 and dominating the globe with a current 7,000 stores--has opened an attractive flagship store with 66 indoor and outdoor seats opposite ZhongShan (Chungshan) Hall, just down the road from China Medical College and Hospital. Besides its sinfully-tasty donuts, the chain also serves up excellent coffees and other beverages, like the summertime, fruit-flavored Coolatta frappe-style drinks (NT$75). --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Ann Lee

A. Dunkin' Donuts offers 60 varieties of donuts and pastries, with 48 available at a time. These include Western favorites like the Apple Fritter, Sugar Glazed and Boston Cream, and Taiwanese favorites like the Glazed Chocolate Mochi Ring. All are NT$30 each with a buy-five-get-one-free deal. There are also combo deals like two donuts and a 10-ounce coffee for NT$80, or a NT$99 bagel sandwich and coffee.

B. Besides the flagship XueShi Road branch, Dunkin' Donuts also has a smaller second Taichung branch on the B3 level of Chung Yo Department Store's "C" Building.
