This dedicated chocolate cafe has an unprecedented selection of delicious hot chocolate drinks, chocolate frappes and handmade chocolates. Interior decorator Jammio Kuo studied the art of chocolate making and opened this comfortable, attractive establishment just off of WenXin Road, Section 2, opposite the Taichung City Police Headquarters. The subdued, modern decor, combined with classical music and wi-fi access, makes this a perfect hang-out. Made with raw French and Belgian chocolate and all-natural ingredients, an always-changing selection of 22 handmade chocolates (NT$15-50/piece) tends toward the less-sweet, healthier dark-chocolate varieties and includes Mocha Starfish, chocolate-covered strawberries and cherries, rough-edged Ganache squares (made with chocolate and cream), and a host of flavored truffles, from coffee to Hawaiian. There are also gift boxes (NT$95/2-piece, NT$320/6-piece). Equally exceptional are 18 hot-chocolate options (NT$110-130), made with melted, not powdered chocolate, including the 70% Belgian Bittersweet Original and others flavored with rum, brandy and eight different liqueurs, from Frangelico to Kahlua. There are also eight chocolate frappes, cold chocolate, Italian-style coffees, teas, juices, cakes and chocolate fondue. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Ann Lee
