"I love soup," says Diego Hsu, owner of this unique new cafe. Indeed, Hsu's personal passion is one of the specialties at Huhu's, which faces People's Square. Topping the menu, the cafe's hearty, Western-style soups include Beef Tomato (NT$100), Salmon Asparagus (NT$90), Chicken Corn, Seafood, Mini Lobster, and Vegetable (NT$80). Add NT$70 and you can enjoy these as sets with added drink and sandwich or rice dish. Hsu says he aims to provide quality food for very reasonable prices, and plans to offer a delivery service in the near future. There are also salads, a variety of sandwiches (turkey, ham and cheese, tuna, vegetable and cheese, etc.), six-inch toasted submarine sandwiches (NT$55-90), sausages and hot dogs, snacks (cheese fingers, onion rings, fries, etc.), and various fresh-sliced fruits. Drinks include various coffees, (NT$45-80), fruit teas and fresh juices (NT$70-80). This cozy, attractive place seats 36 and has a comfortable, minimalist lounge-like feel, with smooth grey walls, light-wood tables, some sofas and lounge music. In an unusual touch, Huhu's becomes a lounge after 9:30 p.m., offering about a dozen cocktails, whiskies, beer, red wine and other spirits, plus snacks. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Ann Lee
