At Daikon, it is typical to see patrons gathering around the bar eating different kinds of "oden". This strange-sounding word is a Japanese specialty dish that has all kinds of ingredients and is cooked in a special broth of soy sauce, sugar and sake. The owner of this Japanese eatery is a young fellow. Since opening, he and his oden have attracted many young, female students. He serves mainly oden dishes (NT$35) with various sauces. Other rice dishes, like the Japanese He-Feng Style Rice, Chicken Strips and Rice, and the seaweed grilled dishes (NT$80-120), are also quite popular. The owner believes in the concept of "constantly putting something to good use", so he is continuously to bringing forth new, creative dishes, challenging himself to present more of what he's capable of to his patrons. Daikon's comfortable setting with food at affordable prices makes for a great lunch or dinner choice any day of the week. --By Tammy Huang, translated by Ann Lee
