After a three-year absence, The Naked Cafe has re-opened in a larger, newer location just a block from the Art Museum (WuQuan) Parkway. Owner Crystal Lin says she wanted to create a relaxing American '60s or '70s bakery-cafe vibe at her new place, and she captures some of that with the earthy colors, lots of wood, big glass windows, an open kitchen and a laid-back atmosphere with inside and outside seating. The menu starts with American, German and English set breakfast (7-10:30 a.m.) options (NT$59-99) that come with items like salad, bread, eggs, drink, imported sausage, ham and hash browns, depending on your choice. Other food items include salads (NT$80-150), Double Sandwiches (combo, beef, lamb, tuna, ham & cheese, etc.), burgers, pita pockets, bagels (blueberry cheese, cream cheese, comb, tuna, etc.), sub sandwiches, and focaccia sandwiches. Individually, all of the above are well under NT$100 each, with NT$50 added for fries and drink. Pastas and evening dinner hours will be added in the future. In addition to offering various coffees made with Lavazza beans, Crystal is especially proud of Naked Cafe's unique "Teapresso"--actually made with an espresso machine using green, black, milk and other teas, plus juices. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Ann Lee
