Anyone entering Jao Jan Feng is greeted
immediately by stacks of hot bamboo steamers that contain
such delicious treats as tasty Steamed Pork Buns and
Green Vegetable and Pork Dumplings. The Pork Buns (NT$120
10pcs.) should be enjoyed slowly and savored, so take
small bites. They are an order not to be missed at this
restaurant, which specializes in Shanghai-style delicacies.
The Steamed Mini Pork Buns (NT$150 15pcs.)
and Egg & Vegetable Soup are a tasty combination
as well. If you like dumplings, then the Steamed Vegetable
and Pork Dumplings (NT$140 10pcs.) are for you. Chefs
at Jao Jan Feng use bok choy (qing-jiang) instead of
traditional leeks or cabbage, and mix these vegetables
with minced pork to enhance the dumplings' texture.
If you enjoy soup, the Steamed Chicken
or Beef Noodles (NT$140) both come with a bowl of plain
noodles, as well as sesame oil and soy sauce to season
them. Other popular menu items include Fried Bean Curd
in Thin Noodle Soup (NT$90) and Fried Rice with Eggs
and Shrimp (or Shredded Pork) (NT$90/70).
The dessert selections are quite unique
and include Steamed Mashed Red Bean Buns (NT$100 10pcs.)
and Steamed Chinese-Style Layer Cake (NT$60 2pcs.) This
restaurant also has a selection of vegetarian dishes:
Steamed Vegetable Dumplings (NT$140), Sesame Paste Noodles
(NT$50) and Vegetarian-Style Dry Noodles (NT$45). Vegetarian
soups are also available in four flavors for NT$110
to NT$130.
Even after 10 years of business, Jao Jan Feng (previously
known as Ding Qin Feng) keeps bringing customers back
with their diligently prepared hand-made, delicious
delicacies. Try it for yourself; you won't be disappointed.
