Known for its pottery theme and beautiful garden landscape, Hwa Tao Yao has been established for awhile and has now added a restaurant named "Xiang Si Kitchen" , to this serene spot in Miaoli county. All-natural products are used with creativity here, from the ingredients of the dishes to serving utensils. Everything from the chopsticks, dishes and roof tiles, to the Shilou soy sauce, Ya-geng rice of Huo Yan San and red-grape sauce reflects the original flavors of Miaoli. The Flower Flying Fish and pickled vegetable Tsai-Bu are the most genuine and popular foods in this town and Chef Lin Chi-Feng uses excellent Chinese cooking techniques to prepare these meals. Meanwhile, all the utensils used here are made of pottery, fired at 1,250 degrees in a wood-burning kiln, giving them a uniquely delicate color, luster and beauty. Visiting this place is almost guaranteed to be a memorable experience, and meals will cost you NT$1,200. Ten coupons may also be purchased for NT$11,880 (service charge included). --By Niang Chen, translated by Ann Lee
