Taichung's favorite donut chain has moved closer to the action with this latest outlet near Feng Chia University and the Overseas Chinese Institute of Technology. As always, Waili Donuts offers a good variety of the North American-style cake donuts as well as the chewier, yeast-based variety that is usually more common locally. These are offered plain or covered in various toppings, such as powdered sugar, frosting and nuts. There are also the rough-edged Original Old Fashioned donuts, mini donuts, donut "holes" (Waili Balls), various crullers, and other pastries. To cater to the student crowd in its new location, Waili has dropped prices significantly for its drinks, with hot and iced Americano and Cappuccino coffees respectively costing NT$35 and NT$45, for example. Coffees are made with imported Italian Caffe Musetti beans and there are also iced and milk teas and other drinks. Finally, there are sorbets (NT$75) in flavors like Mocha Chocolate, Tropical Fruit, and Blue Citrus. In addition to take-out, there are a few tables to lounge at here. Although Waili's LiMing Road store has closed, it also has an outlet on the B3 level of Chung Yo Department Store's "C" building. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Mei Lee
