This cozy establishment's Turkish owner, Seref Sengun, formerly ran a Turkish eatery in Taichung county's Wufeng for over four years but decided to move to the city and open a storefront right by the intersection of HuaMei Road and MingYi Street--behind Sogo and just off of the canal. One of the specialties here is oval-shaped Turkish pizzas, which come in beef, lamb, chicken and fish varieties (NT$180), or a combination Ottoman style with several kinds of meat. The Lahmacun is also a pizza but without the cheese. Other entrees include various Durum beef, lamb, chicken and other rolls (NT$180), as well as kebabs, Turkish-style spaghetti and rice dishes, and big loaves of fresh-baked bread (NT$50-60) in flavors like cumin and parsley. To accompany your meal, there are yogurts, the Cacik yogurt appetizer, yogurt drinks, Turkish Coffee (NT$150), fruit teas and a tasty Rice Pudding dessert (NT$60). Bottles of Turkish extra virgin olive oil and Turkish scented soaps (lavender, rosemary, etc.) are also sold here. Pizzas and many other items may be ordered for take-away. Seref is more than happy to introduce dishes to local customers in his engaging Turkish-Taiwanese accented Mandarin. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by Mei Lee
